Dear diary,
I hope you enjoyed Vulcan’s story. Today’s Vulcanalia Day! From my

room windows I can see people preparing for the celebrations in the

street. If I look around, I can also see the beautiful Roman villas, a big
temple with statues of gods, the wide cultivations of grapevines and olive
trees on the side of the Mount Vesuvius, the river Sarnus ending into

the blue sea, and the busy harbour.

This morning, we woke up very early. Mum went to the market, as she does
every day, to buy food and get fresh water from the public fountains.

My brother Marcus reached the amphitheatre
to attend the gladiators’ fights. I don’t like them,
too much blood and violence.

Soon, all the four of us are meeting at the

thermae, where we can take hot or cold baths,
do some gymnastics and swim in the
swimming pools.
