We are going to mime the song.
Let’s pretend to be near a riverbank.
So, when we sing in , we jump into the
river; when we sing out , we jump off
backwards; singing along , we take two
steps to the left and repeating along ,
at the refrain , we take two steps to the
right and then to the left again.
When we sing What do you see? we
put our hand open on our forehead, as
if we are looking at something far away.
Don’t worry, it’s easy to do. Just follow
me!
Let’s start!”
Whole class Teacher “Sorry, children! • Blackboard or IWB
Would you like to tell me what the
song you have just sung talks about?”
Children “River! Crocodile! Animals!”
T “Great! That’s right! Tell me the
names of the other two animals you
heard in the song: you can read them
on the blackboard/IWB.”
C “Mallard! Kingfisher!”
T “Do you know what a mallard and a
kingfisher are?”
C “No!”
T “Ok! I’ll tell you! The Italian word
for mallard is germano reale oppure
anatra selvatica and martin pescatore
is for kingfisher. Now, tell me, where
do these animals live?”
C “In rivers!”
T “Oops, you are wrong!
Pay attention! Do they live just in the
river? Can they also live out or along it?”
C “Yes! They can live out or along it
too!”
T “Good! Can you give me some
examples of animals living in, out and
along rivers, please?”
C “Fishes live in rivers.”
T “Give me an example of fish.”
C “La trota!”
T “Yes, trout.”
